Your Invited To A Delightful Vacation. What Could Go Wrong?
Quick Review: After winning the Palme D'or at the Cannes Film Festival for the second time, Ruben Östlund brings another fantastic film about the world of riches. He explores how humanity can be dumb and not cooperate with each other through social class and race. Russians, Germans, Americans, and British people don't work together until someone keeps everyone quiet until they work together. It's a brilliant film with many hilarious jokes and scenes that will keep you engaged. It's a long film for sure but it's done well to bring these unnormal characters to life! The performances are very great including the two leads. Woody Harrelson is very funny as the captain of the private boat and I wish we got more of his character. The social commentary in this film is written very well. I love how they make fun of the rich people being so soft and having some of their own creations taken seriously. It's a chaotic film from beginning to end. It went from the wealthy rich world to just a deserted island with just fish and water. The film feels like two episodes into one because they introduce new characters in the third act. But those new characters feel like they were part of the entire film due to the cast's chemistry. The directing is very strong in this film and I can witness dedication and passion for this project. Production is very hard but it pays off well by bringing every little detail to life. The production design is fantastic and I loved the cinematography in this film. This is a big-scale film with an almost mid-budget size but they used every penny to make this film amazing. It can be slow at times with little edits in longer scenes but it's done with the right purpose. I really loved this film and the ending was pretty unexpected but it tells a lot within just the two final shots of the film. This is another win from Östlund and I cannot wait for his next film!
