The Article That Changed Workplaces Forever.
Quick Review: This was a strong film that explored one of the darkest moments in Hollywood and journalism. Seeing every step to achieve this article is done very well. The dramatization of those moments and characters is well put together while not pushing away from reality. I'm surprised that this film is fast-paced and not slow. It's a well-paced film with a lot of serious moments that don't take much of the film while keeping the two main leads in the spotlight. The victim's stories are messed up but the way it was presented is well done while not making the scenes too explicit. I didn't know that they used an actual victim in the film as the final "on the record". It was Ashley Judd and I'm glad that one actress got to share her story on the big screen. That moment really pushed this film to be amazing and they handled the subject very seriously. The performances in this film are very great. I really loved Cary Mulligan's performance and it's nice to see Andre Braugher back on the big screen. He's very great in the film and the supporting cast were very strong. The cinematography is very good and the production design is amazing. I might be in the wrong but I think they used the actual New York Times Office. Anyways, the production of this film is great and I really liked the score which strengthens the drama. I will say this however, it felt like an Oscar-bait film which is bad and a good thing. This might slip into the Oscar race for best picture but who knows? The directing really made this film strong and having these real-life figures put into a Hollywood production but making it seem authentic and powerful. It felt like a documentary and it worked. This is a strong drama film with great performances and solid direction. This film will definitely become an underrated and overlooked film of 2022 and I hope it gets attention throughout the awards season. Now Playing in Theaters.
