Get Ready To Get High AF! Quick Review: This film was high as fuck and it was entertaining. This is the type of B-movie you would see on a Walmart five-dollar basket bin but made by a big ass studio. That's the type of dedication I want to see more of big studios now in this current film market and that's good. If the plot doesn't interest you, it's in the fucking name. A bear on cocaine. How crazy can you get? The pure insanity at the one-hour mark is bloody brutal. It's entertainment at its best and I like it. The first 30 minutes are slow but it gets into the main characters' storylines. I can't lie that the beginning was weak. It felt too formulaic with some weird editing. I wanted to see the bear fuck up some people. That took around 30 minutes into the film and I got what I wanted. The cast isn't that bad. The kids aren't annoying because both of the child actors are talented. The adult characters are good. I liked Alden Ehrenreich's performance and it's nice to see O'Shea Jackson Jr. back on the silver screen. Ray Liotta was carrying the final act of the film and it hits differently after his sudden real-life death. Rest in Peace Liotta. The bear in the film however is cute and deadly. The CGI isn't that bad and it blends in very well with the dark environments. Also, the film is pretty bloody and it can be a little bit gory sometimes. It's dumb fun and there are several moments that will question the story structure. However, the biggest credit to Elizabeth Banks is that all the characters were balanced and while there were too many characters, it didn't over-jumble the film. I would say that there are characters that could've been cut out but their deaths were satisfying. While the plot was weak, did I mind it? Nah, I just wanted to see a bear do dumb shit. This was totally a dumb fun film to enjoy with friends and did I get what I wanted? Yes, and I had a good time. This is ain't The Godfather of B-movies but it might be if they do a hilarious sequel. Entertaining, dumb, and fun! Try not to watch it while being high. Now Playing in Theaters and on VOD. Vizeit Score: "C+" (Share this review with your film friends and on social media! The War Ain't Pretty Until You Become Part of It.
Quick Review: After securing over 9 nominations at the Academy Awards, I had to check it out! I had it on my watchlist for a while and after watching it, I can safely say this was a great war film. There's a lot of dedication to the filmmaking craft and the story behind it. It's another adaptation from the book but with modern technology, it captures what was told from the original source material. There are a lot of creative and beautiful sequences that really stuck with me. The snow sequence really got me very well and the second war battle sequence is by far the strongest sequence in the film. The film uses a lot of long takes and it brings you into the bloody battle of WWI. There are moments that will definitely surprise you for the better or worse. The performances in this film are pretty great with Albrecht Schuch playing Kat being the standout. I really loved the cinematography and the production design of the trenches. The side characters are actually pretty good but not as strong as I hoped for. The film can be quite long with its pacing in the middle but the final 30 minutes really bring this film home. While it's another "war film" that you have seen a bunch of times, including the "anti-war" message behind it, you can't deny the technical aspects that went into this film. It's grounded, effective, brutal, and memorable. I can see this film taking two Oscars and it's one of those war films that will leave you depressed or thinking about the messages behind this film. This was a very solid flick and I bet there will be more war films to come. Now Streaming Only on Netflix Vizeit Score: "B+" (Share this review with your film friends and on social media! Do Nothing. Stay and Fight. Leave. Quick Review: This film was quite a good surprise and it got me very well with the emotional scenes and performances. The story of this film was well executed and it's nice to see different women on screen trying to fight for one cause. What really made me confused was its setting. It's set in the 2010s but it feels weird to see modern technology in a period-setting town. I just found out that there are places like this that still exist around the united states. Not just here but internationally as well. It felt so weird to magical realism with its setting but that got me quite distracted. The performances in the film were very great and two of them were just outstanding. Ben Wishaw and Jessie Buckley gave powerful and emotional performances that it made me tear up. The ending really got me well and you can sense the trouble of these women's lives and the struggles they have been through. The film almost takes place in one location which is the farm and the pacing of this film was pretty good. It started off strong but it was slow mid-way through and the pacing was a little bit fast in the end. There are slow moments that were really great and it gave me time to get to know these characters' struggles and relationships. I really liked Ben Wishaw and Rooney Mara's chemistry in this film and it added so much depth to the whole situation. The cinematography is what grabbed my attention. The coloring is so bleak and it's presented in a much wider aspect ratio. But I will say that the cinematography fits this kind of film but that drew my attention a lot. I will still say this film felt "Oscar-bait" throughout the film but I would say the cast is very great and few actors were snubbed from the Oscars. This was a very well-made film with great performances, interesting cinematography, and a story that will be discussed around its themes of today's culture and society. Very bleak for this type of film. Now Playing in Theaters. Vizeit Score: "A-" (Share this review with your film friends and on social media! Thank you for your continue support.) Copyright © 2023. Quick Review: This was quite a thriller film. Also a bloody one as well. I really had a good time with this film. It was bloody entertaining with a lot of suspense and thrills. The cast is good but what stands out are the chase scenes. Those scenes are the strongest and the film went full-on “Dead by Daylight”. The opening scene was very strong and the world around the pandemic was very interesting. I love how they make fun of the COVID rules, people wearing masks, and trying to quarantine. The social commentary here is interesting but it didn’t quite catch up as what I hoped for. It’s a fast-paced short film and it gets right to its point. But I wished we explored more of these characters. Especially for the protagonist's friend who is here and cares about the environment during COVID. It could've been fleshed out but I liked the character DJ. There was quite a good dramatic moment there. The killer's motivations were weak and while it connected to the COVID subject, it was just a quick exposition. I wish we could’ve seen the party scene to make it more dramatic and get a point of view of the Killer. I didn’t care about the emotional stuff with the villain trying to reach his goal but their morals on COVID rules were hilarious. I felt like the COVID environment felt nostalgic in a bad way but it didn't quite hit me. It felt a little bit too late and too early. But it still added dramatic and funny moments to the film and its social commentary. It’s a film that will get laughs and thrills but remind you that COVID is still out there infecting people. Unless you have the vaccine but no one will tell. Nonetheless, it was pretty entertaining from start to finish with some good old bloody violence. If you need to quarantine, well this is the film to watch while being sick. Get it? Ok, this review is over, I'm going to eat chips now. In This House... Quick Review: If Paranormal Activity was an arthouse film, this is the answer to that question. This is one of the weirdest films I have seen in a long time. Plus it's a return for me to watch horror movies in theaters that actually freaked me out. This was so fucked up and I wasn't ready for it to be honest. It's a very slow horror film that lets to live in the environment and tone of this house. But some of it it's through the point of the kid's vision of these nightmares. The cinematography is quite interesting. There are a lot of bland, wall, fuzzy shots that make you uncomfortable. It's low and high exposed in camera terms and there's a lot of film grain throughout. The sounds of the grains will make you uncomfortable and uneasy sitting through the film. It's mostly dead shots with nothing going on. But when the weird stuff starts to show on screen, it's haunting and scary. There are clever editing moments that really got me and jump scared me. However, I felt like I wanted the film to end because of the well-directed horror but also being so long. This could've been an hour of the film and there are shots or sequences that could've been cut. I would say I wasn't quite bored. I was just waiting for something which made my experience a little bit disappointing. But the final 10 minutes of the film were the most shocking and terrifying. It made me so uncomfortable and it achieved it. It's a fucked up film from start to finish and if you are looking for something to get spooked at night, well this is the film to watch. It won't be for everyone since there's barely any narrative or music. Funny thing is that there's one couple who walked out of the movie in which case I knew that this film won't be pleasing to major audiences. At least watch the trailer or read a review to know if this is worth watching. Overall, this film was quite interesting. It's mostly dead shots, a few jump scares, grainy shots, open domain footage, and Legos. I hope LEGO sponsored this film because that's great marketing. This was quite an experience watching an arthouse film at my local theater and I'm happy that this film is getting the attention it deserved. |
